What was the Government's attitude in regard to the publication of totalisator dividends'? asked Mr W. H. Field, M.P., without notice, in Parliament on Friday afternoon. Did the Government propose to repeal the legislation prohibiting such publication' It took days or weeks for this information to leak through to the country districts, said the member, but the towns apparently know- almost as soon as the races had been run. The Prime Minister: All I can say is that, so far as I know, it will not be possible to introduce an amendment of tho Gaming Act during the present session; and, therefore, it is not possible to do anything in the direction indicated. Mr Field: But what is the Government's attitude? The Prime Minister: It will be for the new Parliament to give effect to tho suggestion made by the lion, gentleman, if it feels inclined to do so.
