GOLF.

The ladies' championship this season was robbed of a good deal of interest owing to some of the competitors having to scratch. However, the two best players in the Club, Mrs B. D'Ath and Miss Quill, were left in and they fought a very keen battle last week for the honour of being the 1!>22 champion. ' Miss Quill was dormy one, but lost the last hole and suffered defeat on the nineteenth green. Mrs D'Ath is to be congratulated on her success. She is one of the Club's oldest members and litis always been prominent in the championship games. Miss Quill won the championship last season, and has shown by her play this season that she well deserved the honour. The contest was over 18 holes. Mrs D'Ath taking 95 and her opponent a few more strokes.

■ The men's final round was played lon Saturday between Grey and Wills over 30 holes. Wills succeeded in holding his opponent for the first 18 holes, Gray being only one up at that stage, but the latter's greater experience told after that and he emerged the winner, five up and four to play. Grey well deserved his victory as he was not. favoured in the draw, and had to beat most of the Club's best players in turn. He has now equalled Kirk's record by win- 1 ning the championship three times. ! Wills put up a good light, and when he has had a little more experience will no doubt, succeed in winning the coveted title.
