Mrs Byron Brown, who has been at a convalescent home at Waikanae for some weeks, returned to Iter home at Wellington to-day. The Misses Freed, who were seriously injured in the recent motor-car accident at the Waitohu bridge, are reported to be making good progress. Miss Keats, of the Post Office staff’, Manakau. has resigned. During her term of officA extending over four years, she has proved very popular, courteous, and obliging. Mr Alex Young. M.P. for Waikato, was among the visitors to Otaki yesterday, the guest of Mrs W. Vaiiglnjjj. During his stay he visited the Native Church and the Sanatorium, and expressed pleasure at seeing such lino buildings. A aijout 10.30 on Saturday morning
the Infant son of Mr Wircmu lying died at his parents’ residence, Tainui, and at about 1ff.4.1 the twin son of Mrs Albert Winterburn also passed. away, this making the seventh dPatli in Tainni for five weeks. All were cousins, and much sympathy is felt for the bereaved relatives.
The remains of Mokowhiti. the infant son of Mr and Mrs August Wallace. was buried at the Catholic cemetery. Pukokaraka. Otaki. on Saturday afternoon. Four Tainui boys—Masters P. Wilson. A. Carter. A. Winterburn. and C. Huff—acted as pall-bearers, and wore Maori mats for the occasion. There were also mats placed on the coffin, also floral tributes from Tainui children, to show their respect towards their little comrade. At the church services Miss Polly Hakaraia sang a Maori hymn tunefully, while the Hev. Father Molu officiated at the graveside.
