OTAKI THEATRE.
TO-NIGHT. “DOLLARS AND SENSE." “Dollars and Sense” shows how the | last two cents of a plucky little Anierij can girl striving to earn her own livelihood wins her the love of one man and ♦he loyal devotion and high regard of another. Hazel’s room rent is due and she is hungry with but two cents between her and starvation. She goes to a bakery and purchases some stale buns which are advertised at two for j a cent, and there meets a young man whose aim in life is to help the poor and suffering. She tells him the buns are for her Pomeranian but he sees through her deception and gives her several fresh and hot buns. Hazel takes them to the park, and when she ravenously bites into them, finds a silver dollar in each, which the kindly baker put there. Hazel returns to the bakery just in time to see the baker
giving a poor old woman some bread. She tells him he needs a business manager and David asks her to take the job on the spot. Then begins a bakeshop idyl with Hazel and David rapidly falling in love with one another. They plan to do great things together, for humanity, and. accordingly establish a bread-line. In the midst of his work. David falls ill and is taken to the hospital. There he worries continually ' because he is unable to relieve the suffering of the poor people in the bread- ! line- Hazel realizes he cannot get well unless his mind i- relieved of worry. She resolves to go to the wealthy Stanhope, and sacrifice herself so that David may have money to fulfil his great dream to aid humanity. Stanhope give- her the key to his apartment and tells her to be there at eight that night if she wishes Lis help. Sick at heart, Hazel goes, to the hospital to see David

I The result is that whet Hazel opens ! the door of the apartment she is c-on- ! fronted by a titan who eagerly takes 1 her in his arms —but the man is not Stanhope, it is David, and with him comes a lease on the apartment for one T-ear signed by Stanhope and made out to ifr and Mrs David Eogers.
