GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE. JOCKEYS LICENSE RECOMMENDED. Wgnganui, September 15. The appeal by Henry Ernest Goldlineh against the decision of the Licensing Committee of the New Zealand llacing Conference in not granting his application for a jockey’s license for 1922-23, was heard by Messrs, l’errett, Yallnuce ami Gooilbehere. The judgment delivered was as follows: "VYe have carefully considered the appeal by Goldfinch against the relusal of the Licensing Committee of tiie Macing Conference to grant his application for a jockey's license fot tlie- current, racing year, and have heard evidence by Goldfinch supporting Ins appeal- 'Ve are of opinion that the action of the Licensing Committee is in order in this respect, as Goldfinch openly admitted to us that he lias been in the habit, of associating with undesirable persons, and that lie has been guilty of a breach of part 21, rule 5 of the Rules of Racing, which reads: 'No jockey shall give information respecting a trial or regarding any horse he may be engaged to ride, in any race or work, to any person other than the owner or | ,rainer of the horse.' Goldfinch, the judgment continued, did not- appear to realise the seriousness of his action. His private life was clean, m view of this fact, and that he openly admitted his guilt to us, we are of opinion lie should be given anoifjr chance, and therefore recommend he he granted a conditional jockey's license, dating from January 1 next-’ JOCKEYS' AND TRAINERS' LICENSES. Wanganui, September 16The Licensing Committee of the New Zealand Racing Conference grunted three months’ conditional jockeys’ licenses to Roy Reed. H. R. Lowe, and G. H. Howland.
