A GREAT WIN TOR OTAKI. MISS ELDERTON SUCCESSFUL. Great interest still centres in the competitions, and each result is looked forward to with much interest. Word was received this morning that Miss Maud Elderton, of Otaki t hud been successful in the operatic solo (soprano or mezzo) gaining no less than 1)6 points out of a possible 100, the highest number of murks yet awarded in the competitions. There were 10 competitors, including Miss urban Hanham,. the brilliant Christchurch sopran*, who has been successfully competing for the past six years, and Miss Elspeth Denholm, a singer of no.e for the past live years.
