METEOROLOGICAL.
Tho month of July just past was phcnominally dry. There were only oight 1 days with rain and tKc total for the i wholo month was 1.15 in. Thoogh July month is always an uncortain quantity —eoßietimes very wet and sometimes the reverse —this July is a record for dryness. The heaviest day's nun was .47in. on the Ist, and as .42in. foil on the 10th practically the whole montk's rainfall took place on these two days. The month v. us remniki.bk also for tho amount of sunshine. Mostly tho days were clear and sunny. Old residents of Otaki are saying, "This is the kind of winter we used to get in the old, old days." Perhaps it was! The following is the rainfall recorded im Sliaiinon lor the month ending July 31: Rain fell on four days, ttie heaviest fall being on the 12th with I.U incites; total lor the month '.'.HI inches as against 5.87 inches lor 20 days in July oi last year. During the period from jJanuary to July, 1922, there was 15.70 inches ,as compared with the same period in 1021, 13.07 inches. The month of March this year had the heaviest rainfall, when 7.35 inches were recorded.
