PARAPARAUMU.
On Friday evening last in the Coronation Hall at I’arupuraumu there was a good attendance, when Air J. W. Gibson. of Levin, gave his lecture on “The Finest Walk in the World,’’ being assisted most ably by Rev. K. P. Keall, of Otaki, as lanteruist. The various v tews gave great pleasure to all, and iit the close both gentlemen were must cordially thanked by the Rev, I. is. Watson for providing such an excellent
programme of pictures, and -o vjrid account of the tramp over McKinnon pass into Milford Sound, aim the glories of the -southern lakes with their various side-trip-, covering in all over a thousand miles by laud and see. A prize i.- to bo awarded the child who writes the essay on the trip. The Puraparaumu Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., has been registered, capital £iOO(J into 2000 shares of £1 each. Hawera, ha.-, proi pared plans, and Mr Droivn, contractor, Haw era. has started to build in concrete a new cheese factory, capable of dealing with the milk from about luou cows. The factory is on a site south of the public school, and it i- hoped to have it linished by 1-t November. The Paraparauinu bachelors gave ; their annual ball in the Coronation : Hail on 6th inst. At the Paraparauinu beach three house.- are being erected at present. Mrs Robert Maclean is slowly recovering health after her serious illness. A hapuka weighing 1121 b-. was caught off Kapiti last week. Several camps of opossum hunterare in the bush ea-t of Paraparauinu, and reports come in that good bag- are being made. The first house to be built of brickin the district, was recently erected by Mr J. Killiek, bricklayer, for his own occunation.
