OTAKI CROQUET CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Otaki Croquet Club was held at Mrs J. 11. Bill's residence on Wednesday afternoon, when a good number of members were present. Airs Witchell occupied the chair. The following report was read:I "I have the honor of presenting the annual report of the committee of the Otaki Croquet Ciub for the season 192122. Play throughout the seastm has been keen and most enjoyable, and members have been very enthusiastic. To the generous donor- of trophic-, who have enabled us to hold many competitions, we extend our sincere thanks, as it is largely due to them that the standard of play has been so much improved. The euchre parties and dances and moonlight tournaments, which have been held, have been most sue cesaful, both socially and financially. and we desire to thank all those .who helped so willingly. On account of our having only one green, players have been rather handicapped, and have only been able to play a limited number of games. It is hoped, however, that before very long we shall have another green which will give more opportunity for practice amongst members. In connection with this new jrreen it was decided at a general meeting held on May oth that each member should contribute 10s or less towards the cost. During the season we challenged the Levin Croquet Club for the Pollock I stars,, and were successful i» bringing them back to Otaki for the first time. | Levin proved too strong for us: in a | match played near the end of the faI son and recaptured them. We desire to express to Mr J. P. Brandon our thanks for his donation of brooches for Ciub competition. On the 1 closing day. when there was a large atendanee of i members, the prizes won in the various competitions during the season were | presented. Members also took the opportunity of making a small presentation to Mrs Bills in appreciation of her many kindnesses to them. Finances of the Club are in a sound condition, only four subscriptions being oatstanding, while already seven members have contributed their 10s towards thai new green.—E. W. Wilson, Hon. Seere- j tary. j Mrs J. E. Bills was elected secretary for the reir.
