OTAKI THEATRE.

TO-NIGHT. "THE GREAT ADVENTURE." Publicity and women arc the twe things, Priam Farll, the great artist fears. Though his home is in England, he paints on the continent. He is pursued by a celebrity-hunting woman, Sophia Entwistle, who discovers him in Warsaw, where in a weak moment the eccentric artist allows himself t© become engaged. Next day to escape her he flees to his London home which he has not. visited in years. There kis. valet, Leek, suddenly dies. He determines to hide his identity by posing as the dead valet, and Leek is buried as Priam Farll, the great artist, in Westminster Abbey. Posing as the valet, Farll attends his own funeral and gets in the same pew with the weeping, heavily veiled Lady Sophia Entwistle. He sees her, but she dooa not recognise him, and ho floos to tho organ loft, whence he looks down and sees his supposed own burial. He becomes hysterical and imagines he sees Leek beckoning to him and laughing at him. Farll talks to himself so loudly that he is thrown out of the Abbey by the police who think he is mad or intoxicated. The newspapers publish obituaries of the great artist, Farll reads them with great interest. A young widow, Alice Challice, mistakes Farll for Leek, who had carried on a correspondence with her through a matrimonial agency. He marries the pretty young widow under thename of Leek. Poverty forces him to paint. His wife takes his picture to the corner picture store, where, to her surprise, it brings as much as a pound.. She makes him keep on turning out canvasses, which eventually find their way to the art dealer who formerly handled his work. This dealer recognises that Farll must be still alive, but as ho buys the picture for a song he keeps quiet. The dead valet, Leek, had left a wife and two sons. Widow Look and the young Leeks call on the artist. They insist that Farll is Leek, and must return home with them. The rich American who has purchased some of Farll's recent paintings threatens to jail the art dealer for selling him forgeries The art dealer begs Farll to disclose his true identity. A series of complications and comedy situations arise which prove that although Farll is officially buried,.privately he is very much alive—secure and happy at last. FRIDAY NIGHT. "THE JOLT" AND 'TAITH." Johnnie Stanton, a former crook, had | married a French girl and was on his I way back to the United States with his bride, resolved to go straight. But the , members of Johnnie's old gang were I determined to get him again with them, and set about to accomplish this. That is an incident in the story of "The Jolt" in which the Fox co-stars, Edna Murphy and Johnnie Walker, appear. "The Jolt" comes to Olaki on Friday, j On the same night "Faith." a stirring new AVilliam Fox photoplay starring I'cggy Hyland. will also be shown. This is said to be a decidedly strong play, showing the star at her best. The story is of love and adventure and the wicked designs of- two scheming persons who plan to wreck the happiness and win the fortune of a lovely Scotch lassie. They don't succeed—but meanwhile there's iomC thrilling work going on. j
