TELEPHONE EXCHANGES
, » I A meeting of residents of Pa.ra.pafs' i umu was hold last night to consider the ■ question of installing a telephone ex- | change in their township. There were j some thirty persons present, including I Mr Cummings, Distriot Telegraph EnJ gineer, and Mr Erkyll, linesman, of j Otaki. Mr Maclean occupied the ehqir. Mr Cummings gavo valuable, information, spoke on tlio advantages that would be derived by an installation, and answered several questions, The meeting proved most enthusiastic, aud all decided to give iu their names in favor of an exchange, and arrangements are now being made to get a loan from the Government.
A similar meeting will be' held al Paekakariki to-night. The work of connecting Tc Horo subscribers with the Otaki exchange will be completed to-day. In all there arc 49 new subscribers.
