SPORTING.
Nominations for the coming Otaki race-meeting are very satisfactory, while it is fully expected that the acceptances will be well above the average. The course is in good order, and given fine weather the O.M.R.C. should have a very successful meeting. All loose-boxes on the course have been booked, while the same applies to the new accommodation house.
Local hoiscs are in active training, and it is reported that some good times have been put up. Several outside horses are expected during the course of the next i'fw days. Hush-a-bye. once a well-known nicer, is now appearing in harness,
"Dug" Webster will have Fisher competing at Auckland. Frank Higgott has secured Ljiroc from a Canterbury sportsman, and also lias Lady I'allas who he secured from the West Coast. Mr Palmer has sold Bestir to Mr J. A. Stringer, of Nelson. Bestir raced in Stringer's colors soon after the purchase and Avon at Blenheim, R. Hatch has left Pahuofston North for the South Island. He will be riding at Oanmru and Duncdin,
It is understood that G. Young will ignin net as first horseman for Mr G. ). Greenwood's stable next season. Mr T. Lloyd, of Woodvillc, had to unlcrgo a rather serious operation in the .’almerston hospital on Saturday last, nit his many friends will be pleased to earn Hint he is making satisfactory HOgrcsi. Geo. Price has returned lo Palmerton. after a trip to Sydney.
