SPORTING.
W. .!. Bowden rode Sir Solo second in the Egmoiit steeplechase and paid a good dividend. This was Sir Solo's ■first start for two years, also first time he lias raced over country, therefore he did remarkably well. Bowden also rode Ngakauui third in I lie hurdles at Egmoiit, and before returning to Otaki proceeded to Masterton and schooled horses for Messrs Vallanee and I'ritcliard. Petunia, when racing at Hawera looked a winner at the bend for home, but was galloped on and his leg wan badly lacerated. W. J. Bowden ba= left for W'atiganui to ride Sturdee for Mr Vallanee, of Ma.-terton. Achillcon is the first horse to arrive for the Otaki meeting. He is quartered at Mr Utiku Hapeta 's. i
