OTAKI CHORAL SOCIETY
♦ A meeting of the above was held on Friday night to consider a letter received from Air Bennett, of the Wellington City Council, relative to the Society giving a conceit in Wellington. Mr Bennett assuring the Society of the co-operation of Air Palliscr and others, who wore the chief organisers in connection with the very successful Band contest recently hold in AVcllington. Other members who have also volunteered to act as a committee in Wellington are Air Webb (chairman of the Wellington Choral Society) and Mr AlcEauglilan, of “The Times.” The Otaki Committee reviewed the linancial prospects of the trip, but after having the assurance of Air Webb that his choir, consisting of
about 350 voices, wore much interested, and considered success assured. It was agreed to hold the concert on Alondtiy, June 3rd. Airs Stable will attend a performance to l»e given by the Wellington Society next week. Airs Stable gave details of the proposed. conceit, pointing out that every member was eligible to go provided they knew the music. One member asked about expenses, and was assured these would be paid out of the concert proceeds, though in the event of a possible loss each member may be called upon to pay a few shillings. This possibility, however, seemed remote. All members were unanimous on making the trip. At the conclusion of the practice Miss Patterson announced that sho would lie pleased to assist any young member of the choir to learn his or her part. The announcement was received with applause.
