A very large and representative meeting of 'he Wairarapa cheese factories was held at Carterton yesterday to" consider-the proposal to.estublish a dairy pool on the lines of iiie meat'pool, but run by the dairy .people entirely. Addresses were given by Messrs. A. Morton fchairman of ■lie National Dairy Association) and Good fellow (managing director of iiie New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Association. All fully outlined the conditions of marketing produce at pre-sent-in .vogue and advocated the /ormaticn of a pool. Such a step would saw at least £6oiooo per.annui.u at present paid to operators on me .niarket iri London. Numerous; questions <rers asked and answered.
Mr Morton (chairman) announced that the object of the meeting was to obtain the support of the Wairarapa factories .and get delegates appointed to attend a conference in Wellington. The following resolution was carried unanimously? i4 That this meeting approves the proposal as outlined in Circular s*. April 10, issued by the National Dairy Association re the formation of a compulsory dairy pool, subject to any necessary' alteration."
