Mr'and Mrs Harry Knox to-day celebrate their silver rreddiDg. Mr T. O’Rourke returnod to Otaki on Saturday after an enjoyable holiday iu the Hawkes’ Bay district.
Mr and Mrs Horace Noble and Mr and Mrs W. Noble leave for a motor trip to tho Taranaki district this week.
Miss MonericlT, of Claroville, is at present on a visit to Otaki, staying with her sister, Mrs W. Burns Smith.
Dr. Curtis is at present in the Otaki hospital suffering with a strained back, the result of cranking his car.
Mr Don. Grant, of Te Horo, who recently severely sprained his ankle, is making slow progress and will undergo X-Rays treatment.
Mr and Mrs Fryor, who have been residents of Otaki for the past four years, leave next week to take up rosideriee in Invercargill.
Mr Allan Roxburgh, who recently suffered n sad bereavement, was taken seriously ill in Wellington on Saturday. Mrs Bills (sister) left for the City yesterday.
At a meeting of the Otaki Football Club on Saturday night a vote of condolence was passed to Mr and Mrs Eddy and family on account of their sad bereavement.
The funeral of Master William Pearce Eddy took place on Sunday afternoon, when members of' the postal staff acted as pall-bearers. The Rev. G. F. Petrie, M.A., conducted an impressive service, while a number of lovely floral tributes were placed on the coffin.
Miss Elderton, a competitor at the Christchurch competitions, has done remarkably well so far. and is deserving of congratulations. In the class for girls under 18 years (15 entries) she is among the three re-calls, while in the Championship sacred (18 entries) she is also in the final trio. She also secured first honors in own selection out of fifteen entries, rendering “Days of Joy are Here.”
A quiet wedding took place at Aehhurst on the 12th April, when Mr Ivan Hughes, youngest son of Mr and Mrs R. Hughes, well-known residents of Otaki, was married to Miss Hannah Esther (Ettie) -Sparrow, only daughter of the late Mr J. J. Sparrow (London). Miss Erica Marjorie Drake, daughter of Mrs Drake, of Mnnakan. was married at St. Peter’s Church, Wellington, on Saturday afternoon, to Mr Cyril Alfred Chnnnell, of the Wairarapa. Arehdcacon Watson, assisted by the Rev. GF. Petrie, M.A., officiated.
