OTAKI SPORTS.
— Arrangements are now well in hand for the Otaki Athletic Club’* sports to be held on Easter Saturday, and judging by the entries and the fine lot of competitors entered the gathering should be one of the best held on the coast. Hawera, Manawntu, Wanganui and Wairarapa are sending champions for the championship events and keen conipe-tition must result. The racing track is being prepared by Mr List. . while Mr Irving (secretary) and his j willing staff of assistants will leave no • stone unturned for a successful day. I On account of the large number of c-a-I trams the sports will commence at 11 i a.m.
j Following are the number of entries received:— Championship Events: 100 yards, 20; 220 yds, 18; 440 yds, 19; 880 yds. 16; one mile, 19; three j miles, 20: one mile walk, 4; long jump, j 20; high jump. 13: hop. step, and j jump, 19; pole vault, 12; 320 yds. : hurdles, 12; 440 yds. hurdles, 15; put- , ting the shot, 11; throwing hammer,7. Handicap Events: 100 yards. 15; 300 yds. 10; 1,000 yds, , 7; 120 yds. local,' 7; one mile cycle, 9; two miles'cycle, 9. ’ It wiTKbe 'noticed that in the cnarn•pionShop events there 'is a total of 282 entries, and in the handicap events 57, the number of competitors being 55.
