PERSONAL.

Miss Ruby Bevan, of Manakau, has left for the Wairarapa on holiday. Mr T. M. Wilford, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, visited Levin on Wednesday.

Mr J. W. Hodgson. Carterton’s postmaster, has left on his annual holiday, and contemplates spending it in the South Island. Mrs Hodgson is going north. Mr J. Holmes, relieving postmaster, takes chargo of the Carterton office during Mr Hodgson’s absence.

A plaasing ceremony took place at the Otaki hospital last evening, when Miss Meta Taylor, on behalf of her sister, who was married during tho afternoon, presented for the ward tho bride and bridesmaids’ bouquets, an act that was greatly appreciated by both staff and patients. The bouquets were beautifully made, and were freely admired.

Miss Fairbairn, who has been connected with tho Waikanae Post Office staff for some time, during which period she has proved courteous and efficient, was entertained by Waikanae residents on Wednesday night and 'made the recipient of a substantial cheque. Complimentary remarks were made as to her capabilities and popularity, after which supper, etc., was served and enjoyed. Miss Fairbairn shortly leaves for Christehuch.

Members of the Otaki Choral Society on Wednesday night serenaded Miss Taylor, who was married yesterday, and sang “ ’Tis Thy Wedding Morn.” After a humorous speeeh by His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon) he presented Miss Taylor with a handsome tray, made of Now Zealand woods. Mr Crawford suitably responded. Miss Taylor, who has been a member of the Methodist Church for many years, and a teacher of the Sunday School for over eight years, was presented by Church members and Ladies ’ Guild with a set of stainless cutlery, while from the Sunday School pupils and staff she received a fountain pen.
