LOCAL SOCIETIES AMALGAMATE. A mooting of tJio committee- of ’he Horowhenua Horticultural Society was held on "Wednesday evening, when'there were present Misso; Leo and Esher, and Messrs Cockrell, Broadway, Noble, Eenoid-. Witchell Wilson and S. Ncrgrove (secretary). The president, Mr Witchell, was in the chair. The secretary read a statement of account.-: of the late show, which showed e considerable falling off in receipts. By the kindness of those who made donations. and the balance forward front la-t -how, there should be a small credit when the annual balance-sheet 3* presented. Votes of thanks were passed to Mes*r» A. J. Shailej, F. Westbury, J. .7. Whitehead. P. Bennett, and Mrs Trarie, who ably officiated as judges, to ITi-scr. hi. Baker "'and E. Whiteman and their assistants in the tea rooms, to the Band for supplying music. and to Me?-r* Watts, Whiteman, and Bramiey for donation-. The annual meeting was fixed for Monday, May Ist. Messrs Small end Witched! were appointed to draft new rales rendered necessary by the amalgamation, with the Bulb Society, end the name- of the society will be the Otnki Horticultural a.nd Daffodil .Society. It was ■ resolved I 'to communicate' with other Horticultural Societies, to- secure combined action in getting the ammomeat tax remitted.
