WAIKANAE.
PANCY DRESS BALL. A very successful plain and fancy dress ball was held at Mr 11. Parata's meeting house on Monday night (13th). visitors being present from Otaki. Tc Horo, Rikiorangi and Paraparaumu. The hall was packed and the fancy dresses were numerous. The young folks spared no pains with the decorations, and the hall with streamers of purple, yellow and green and the walls and poles with plaited nikau looked charming. During the evening songs were given by Miss A. Parata and Messrs P. Enoka (Otaki) and Webber (Kapiti). The music was supplied by Mr Enoka, and extras were played by Mrs T. H. Parata and Mr R. Nicholson. Miss J. Tidy gave an exhibition in fancy dancing" which was very much appreciated. The judge awarded the lady's prize (jewel case) to Miss Rose Kent (Rikiorangi).
