Mr Palmer, lute of Otaki Gorge, has been on holiday in Carterton.

Mr C. F. Atmore, of Otaki. has received cnWcO advice from i.ondon that he has been awarded the defree of Bachelor of Laws.

The Mayor, Mr .1. P. Brandon, iu response to the unanimous wish of the bandsmen, has accepted office again as president of the Otaki Band.

Mrs Reid, mother to Mr “Jack” Reid, the well-known commercial traveller, is seriously ill at her home in ’Wellington.

Mr? .T. W. Hodgson, late of Otaki. has been on a. visit to Wanganui. She returned to her home at Carterton at the week-end,

Mr IV. Hull, the well-known Wuirarapa athlete, hopes to walk across the Tararuas at an early date with a view of lowering the record.

The Rev. R. P. Keali, of the Otaki Methodist Church, has returned after attending the Methodist Centenary celebrations in North Auckland.

Mr and Mrs Charles McGill, of Wellington, and who are well-known in Otaki, leave this week to take up residence at New Plymouth. Mrs McGill was entertained by many friends hist week and made the recipient of a beautiful presentation.

It is reported that overtures are being made to Mr B. J. Jacobs, president of the Palmerston North branch of the R.S.A.. to become a candidate for the Palmerston North seat in the interests of the United Party.

The Hod. D. H. Guthrje (Minister for Hands and Repatriation) accompanied bv the Kapiti Island Advisory Committee. is to visit Kapiti Island during the coming week-end in order to study on the spot the conditions obtaining on the island.

Mr T. Swenwon. after a residence in Otaki of over 20 x clirs - to-day for Mangaroo, where he will take up farming. Among the positions he filled here was that of ranger to the Otaki Borough Couacil. His local friends will wish him success in hi? new field of labor.
