DAWKINS ESCAPES
TEN MINUTES’ FREEDOM. ifCNS INTO A WARDER. A daring and seemingly ingenious escape from gaol was accomplished on Monday by the convict. Charles Campbell Dawkins, who managed to get away from tlio Terrace gaol. His freedom was brier, however, for hr had the ill-luck to run into a prison warder v.ho was just coming on duty. He wus prompt ly detained and taken back to gaol, after being away only about ten minutes. Dawkins, who commitfcd many burglaries in Wellington, - was captured in Christchurch and was sentenced on February -25th last to six years’ imprisonment for breaking and entering mid lor’a serious assault or. Df. McEvedy.
It is notable that it was from the Terrace gaol, a few .years ago, that I’awelka, the notorious convict, broke loose, and has never been heard of since. BE FIRM. When you ask i'er a bottle of Chamberlain’s Colic and Remedy, do not allow the dealer to sell you a substitute. Be firm in your conviction that, there is nothing so good. This medicine has been tested -in the most severe and dangerous eases of cramps, colic, and diarrhoea, and has never been known to fail.
