MAORILAND PICTURES.
QtJR NEW PROPRIETOR. Mr A. F. Jauncey, who has assumed control of the picture theatre at Otaki, isl likely to prove most enterprising, and being anxious to please patrons has made arrangements to secure even better pictures than have been shown in tho past, while the comfort of all will have every attention. Mr Jauncey intends visiting Wellington on Tuesday to make final arrangements for the securing of high-class pictures and is also making arrangements to show leading films immediately they are released from AVellingtou. The expense incurred, however, will be considerable, and therefore the tax aftor Friday, 10th, will be paid by patrons. This means but little to picture-lovers, but to the new proprietor means a lot, therefore there should be no objection to the extra small payment. In connection with this it is only fair to add that Mr McMillan, had ho remained proprietor, would have done likewise. Any suggestions made by patrons to Mr Jauncey will, we feel confident, receive every consideration. ‘‘THE AMAZING WOMAN." TO-NIGHT. Tho character of picture is a tense and emotional society drama, with scene of action in a country home, a hospital, and a gambling saloon. The romance of Anita Frane and Dr. Ralph Strong is interrupted when he enlists at the declaration of war. Later, Anita, seeking a musical career, goes to the city with Ralph’s foster father, John Strong The latter soon tiros of .her, and Anita, disillusioned, - becomes the Flame at night and Angel of -Mercy by day. She again meets Dr. Strong upon his return from France and their romance is renewed. She urges him to run for Mayor and instigate reform. Later, Ralph introduces his dad to his future wife. Anita, but she faints from the shock. However, his father dies without disclosing the past, and Ralph, refusing to listen to Anita’s confession, is Imp pily united to her. Another star entitled "Pals in Blue,’’ featuring Tom Mix will also be shown. “DRAG HARLAN." TO-MORROAV NIGHT. "Drag Harlan" goes back to the old Jays of the American AA’est, when the bush life insurance was a quick gun hand. In this picture Farnum has the "snakiest” gun hand in the AA’est. He ]' nds a dying ranch owner named Lane Morgan, who had been ambushed by three men, one of whom Drag has just killed. Morgan gives Drag a map showing the location of a big gold deposit on his property, and importunes him to look after his daughter Barbara, who is in great danger. Harlan saves Barbara, but she is kidnapped by outlaws. How he rescues her and outwits tho outlaws is thrilling in the extreme,"Drag Harlan” is reputed to be one of the most romantic and virile photo dramas ever graced by this papular star. ■Jackie Saunders plays opposite Farnum in the role of a cattleman’s daughter.
