PROPOSED GYMKHANA.
To the Editor. Sir.—My idea of raising funds for Jhe Otaki Rest Resort is as follows: — The main feature is to have a "treasure hunting" competition on the Otaki beach some Saturday afternoon, say from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; the section where .the treasures are hidden to be roped off; the entrance fees to be 3d for school children and (id for adults, children, too young fo? school, free; two 01 more sports' committeemen to be told off to guard the section so that no person without a ticket could get into the enclosure, tv/o or more men to watch the beach for the children's sake; spades to be sold on the beach on aiud (small spa.ks for '(Mefrots) to collect on the-beach for the fund; erect temporary conveniences (one for ladies and children and one for men); let out six contracts at Sis each, two for mineral waters, two for iceereains, and'two for sandwiches, jeakes. etc; advertise well in Otaki, Lulyin, and Wellington papers (two to three weeks) in advance; if to be held on th- day appointed a flag to be hoistled (by land permission of Postmaster) iiot later than 10 a.m., if through weaker or ether circumstances cancelled, no flag to be displayed. As a grand finale I suggest to have a dance in the levening, and ■! also suggest that prizes for treasure hunters be as follows: — No, 1 to 10 Is each, No. 11 to 20 2s ifeach, No. 21 to 30 4s each, and prize No. 99 £1 Is, the ticket with Nos. on to be placed in tin boxes and dug almost 3ft. into the sand. —I am, etc., E. LOOSER.
