ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting in connection with the Otaki Public Library was „hcld in the Council Chambers on Monday night. His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon) presiding. The report, as already published, v.-ns read, while the balance-sheet showed r- debit of about £l-3. The resignation of Mrs Hodgson was accepted with regret, ami complimentary reference made to the fine work accomplished by her while on the committee. The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year: Mesdames Davies, Cook, Swabey, Hopkins. McDonald, Rev. Pctric, Messrs Brandon, Watts, McDonald, Bramley, and Nicolson; lion, secretary and jt'reasurer, Mr S. Norgrove (re-clcct-jDd); hon. auditor, Mr H. Witphell (re-elected). The latter two gentlemen were accorded very hearty "rotes of thanks for their service-;. Mr Brandon was elected Chairman J>f Committee. The question of putting the library pn a more satisfactory footing was dismissed, and it was.decided to ask the assistance of the Choral Society to raise funds, while the Chairman and Mr Nicolson were deputed to wait on the Maoris with a view to securing their services at a concert. Those present deemed it desirable that the present library building should he removed to a more central site, and it was decided that the buildings be offered to auction, Messrs Brandon, Davie*, Norgrove and Rev. Petrie to make necessary arrangements. It was also thought that the rest resort site would be a suitable place for a library, the Chairman considering that the custodian of the library couid look after both library and grounds. It was decided to approach the Rest Resort committee 0:1 the matter.
