THE MAORI CHURCH.
A meeting .of the Maori Church Committee was held at Raukawa on Saturday, 21st. The following members were present. Messrs Tiemi Eikikana (chairman), K. Hawca, U. Hapetn, W. Kei, P. Tahiwi, H. Ranapiri and R. Carkeek. The above Committee was formed on the 4th December, 1921, for the purpose of taking*" over the control and management of affairs in connection with the above. Mr Rikihana expressed much pleasure for the way. the members had worked hard to place the Maori (. hurcli affairs on a sound financial position in such a short time, and he also extended his thanks on behalf of the Committee for the response given by the public, par4ficularly*'by Pakeha friends. He wished to thank the public. and all others who assisted in making i he recent concert such a-successful one, and aho extended thanks to Mr I. * Tahiwi, secretary of the' concert, for the able way in which he conducted the programme. The total takings amounted to £4B 9*s 6d, expenses £lO 34s sd, as shown in' the balance-sheet, thus leaving a balance of £3" 15s Id for the concert. Receipts:—Per P. Tahiwi, bal. concert June loth, 1921, £10; concert held January 19th, 1922, £4B; R. J- Staveley (donation), £1 Is; sale of hay, £2 10s; bal. market reserve (per M. H. Ayre), £1 13s Id; per Hema Te Ao, £-5; rent market reserve 21st January, 1922, £10; anonymous, £3 10s 6d; total receipts, £BB 4s Id. Expenditure:—Ad. Tender for hay 4s; writing material and stamps, 3s 6d; rates for market reserve, £5; expenses for recent conceQ, £jo 1-ls od; total expenditure, £IG Is lid; balance in hand, £72 2s 2d. There is still £1 16s to collect on the above for tickets sold.
