HUTS FOR OTAKI BEACH.
FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF EATHERS. Arrangements have been made by His Worship the Mayor (Mr J. P. Brandon), on behalf of the Otaki Borough Council, for the erection of two steel liuts at Otaki beach for the convenience of bathers. The cost will be, roughly, from £BO to £IOO, and the innovation will be one fully appreciated by both local and district residents and by the numerous visitors who, at the present time, are placed at a great disadvantage for accommodation. The huts each weigh 184 cwt., the ironwork alone weighing 144 cwt., while flooring wood etc., total; 4 cwt. The walls are of black corrugated iron, 22 gauge, the roof is conical with double inside and outside lining of steel sheets. 22 gauge, corrugated at joints, and include ventilation and smoke cowl. Steel angle edges are provided at the top and bottom to race wall sheets, and ten wooden ribs prepared to section from rafters to roof. The floor is in four sections, tongued and grooved, while each hut contains one iron door and two windows. The hut is complete with all necessary fittings. The Council is to be commended for the undertaking.
