METHODIST NOTES.
The quarterly meeting of the Otaki Circuit was held at Waikanae on Wednesday last, the Rev. Keall presiding. The Rev. F. Watson, acting Home Missionary at Paraparaumu was also present. Delegates were present from various parts of the Circuit. Matters in connection with the coming Centenary of Methodism were considered, and it was decided that the occasion should be fittingly observed in the various Churches. The position of the finances gave rise to a general discussion, the amounts received of the usual Church collections being insufficient to meet expenses. Donations had been received from many supporters, but there still remained a coneid- * erable debit balance. , | The Building Committee of the Paraparaiami parsonage presented their report, which showed that the parsonage ■was almost complete, at a cost, including purchase of site, of nearly £I4OO. Of this sum £6OO had been received in cash, and the balance would bo received from the Church Building Fund on loan. Paraparaumu had raised £3OO, and further donations from the other contres in the Circuit will be welcomed so that the amount to be borrowed may be as small as possible. Harvest festivals are to be celebrated during this quarter, and each church is assessed to raise a quota towards the circuit debt, any balance over the assessment to go towards local Church funds. The Rev. F. Watson who, since his arrival from England has been supplying as Home Missionary at the south end of the circuit, was cordially invited to remain, if Conference approved of the appointment. Appetising refreshments were provided by the Waikanae ladies, and -were much appreciated.
