MANAKAU.
There is at present a demand for seaside sections, and it is believed that the beach could be made a very popular resort. In view of this it is probable that sections will shortly be placed on the markot. A .scheme is already on loot to improve the road, and thus make the beach more easily accessible.
A momorial service in recognition of the splendid work done by the late M rs Staples was held at. the Methodist Church on Sunday night, when the Bev. R. P. Keall delivered a very impressive and appropriate address, making menlion of the loss the Church had sustained by the loss of Mrs Staples who had always the interests of the Church at heart. The Church was filled and the address was listened to with rapt attention. Favorite hymns of the late Mrs Staples were rendered whilo "Crossing the Bar" was rendered by Mr Howard Andrew, and "Some Time, the Silver Chord" by Mr Hunter. Both solos were impressively isuug. The Bev. Keall took for his sermon "What Is Your Life." The pulpit was draped in black for the occasion. Mrs Andrew presided at the orgaa and at the conclusion of the service played "The Dead March in Saul."
