RACE OF PIGMIES.

DISCOVERED IN CENTRAL AFRICA. Mr Sydney Fairbairn, a members of the Travellers’ Club, has returned to London from an arduous journey in Central Africa, through the Congo tn Uganda. After much searching he found a land of pigmies, whose average height is forty-live inches, and tvhoso houses average fifty-two inches high, and are entered by crawling. The pigmies are much hairier and lighter coloured than the average tribes. The •men arc beautifully made, and the women massive with tiny feet Their faces arc gnomelike. At the outset they were scared, especially by 1 lie camera, but later became easy, and danced all night by the light of log fires. Mr Fairbairn travelled hundreds of miles guided by savages with a system of signalling by tom-toms, with which elaborate messages were sent.
