TERRIBLE EARTHQUAKE.

MANY TOWNS DESTROYED. HEAVY DEATH ROLL IN ARGENTINA. Buenos Aires, December 20. Terrific earthquake shocks destroyed many towns along the Argentine slopes of the Andes mountains. Over 150 bodies have been recovered so far, but the death roll is expected to be appallingly high. One hundred perished at Tresportenas and thirty at Costa de Araujo. Not a house, was left standing in La Valle and La Central. Particularly strong shocks were felt again on Saturday. The towns of San Martin and Rivadavia and the city of Mendoza were badly shaken, but undamaged. This is the worst catastrophe since 1869.
