GARDEN PARTY.
AT OTAKI ON WEDNESDAY. Given fine weather, the garden party to be hold at Mr and Mrs Frank Penn's garden on Wednesday next should draw a large crowd of people and prove a success in every way. There will be stalls for plain and fancy work, produce, sweets, ice creams, etc., afternoon tea will be provided, while various sorts of competitions will bo indulged in, including children’s race:;, quoits, nail-driving, Aunt Sally, etc. The Christmas tree should prove «, special attraction, as a splendid lot, of toys, etc., have been secured. It. is expected that a great many people will attend the gathering for the purpose of inspecting the roses and the garden, which have more than a local reputation. Lovers of roses should certainly make a point, of being present. In the event of wet weather the fete will he held in Brights’ Theatre. The gates will open at 1.30, while the public opening ceremony, to be performed by Mr .J. P. Brandon, is timed for 2 p.m. The proceeds will be devoted to the .Methodist Parsonage improvement fund.
