PUKEKAWA MURDER.

THORN SENTENCED TO DEATH. The trial of Samuel John Thorn, farm, hand, on a charge that on 24th August he murdered Sidney Seymour Eyre, settler, of Pukekawa, was concluded on Friday before Mr Justice Chapman at the Auckland Supreme Court, The jury returned a verdict of guilty. Addressing the jury, the judge said he absolutely and entirely approved of their verdict. He paid a tribute to the police,' especially to Detective - Sergeant Cummings. He wished to say that whatever might be felt regarding the unfortunate woman, Mr* Eyre, "he wa.* perfectly satisfied that she had appeared in Court an absolutely unbiassed and truthful witnee.#. and had given her evidence with the utmost sincerity. Accused ww .sentenced to be hanged.
