MANAKAU NOTES.

The Manakau Tenuis Club'a opening •if the season, postponed front Labour Day, took place on Saturday last, The weather was- not very suitable for tennis, bnt there was a capital attendance, both of players and spectators, and the function passed off most pleasantly. The only outside cloß represented wan Levin, represented UJ Mr Howard Andrew. Major Taturn (patron of the. club) performed the opening ceremony, nuking a short speech, in which hs «aid the prospects of the season wera ticering. and he hoped'that members tvould pull together, and that the Club would have n record season. A number of new players participated in the play on Saturday, showing good form. Tl..- ladies, as usual, provided an i Imndant afternoon tea. which teat .neatly appreciated by all. Much sympathy i- fit with our itfcal postmistress (Mr* Bradshaw), who has jnflt had the misfortune to lo*G her Trnhcr .'Mr .lame- Grimwood) '.-•tlier suddenly.
