OBITUARY.
MR KEMANA TE HANA. The death occurred at Otaki on Friday evening of Mr Kentana (“Lemon”) to Hana, a well-known and popular Native, and a staunch church worker. Deceased, who was about 42 years of ago, was born in Otaki, has taken keen interest in sport, being a leading hockey referee, and also an enthusiastic member of the Otaki Brass Band. Of recent date he has suffered greatly from ill-health, and in consequence was unable to take an active part in many things. Deceased, who was the only soil of Mrs Te Hana. an old and respected Native, leaves a widow—a daughter of Mr Rawiri—and a family of four young children, for whom much sympathy is felt. Mr- Whuta Hakaraia and Miss Weheuga te liana are sisters. The body has been removed to tho rauknwu, where there is now a representative gathering of Natives—congregated to mourn the loss'sof a sincere friend. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at 2 o’clock. MRS COLVILLE. The death occurred at Otaki oa Saturday morning of Mrs IV. Colville, of Mnnakau. Deceased, who was well and favourably known, has resided at Manakau for several months past, and her death has come as a shock to relatives and friends. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband, who during the epidemic lost a wife, ami also for the family of young children MR HARRY BATES. The death occurred at the Otaki Hospital yesterday of Mr Harry Bate-, for many years a well known resident of the Waikanae district. Deceased, who died as the result of pleurisy and pneumonia, was ■’ l i years of age. The funeral takes place to-morrow at 2.1!b. MRS STEALEY. The many friend- of Mrs Surah Lucy Steale.v (wife of Hie Rev. 11. T. stealc.v. M.A.) will be sorry to hear >f her death at King-bridge. South Devon. England. She was well known in the Wellington district, where she -cttled in October, 1002. and left in December, 1010, on account of failing health. She was a strenuous worker in every place whine sin; accompanie 1 iier husband, namely, in St. Paul’s Parish. Wellington, Otaki, Claroville, Levin, and Pctone. The Rev. H. T. -tealey having been appointed “Buncombe Lecturer” iu connection with In- Parish Church, King-bridge, South Devon. England, in May last, she took in her residence there. For a time her health improved, but -he had another breakdown in July. She died in n private ward of the Cottage Hospital, ICing.-bridge, on Augu-t 17. The funeral took place at Churnhsfow on August 21.
