RIFLE SHOOTING.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMPETITIONS. A meeting of the executive of the Rifle Clubs of the AA’est Coast was held in Levin on Saturday, the delegates pit-sent being Messrs G. Cat ley (chairman), A. Monk (.Ngatiawa). Guv (Hautere), AV. Ingram (Levin), White (Paraparaumu), and Ryder (Foxtou). Shannon advised that its club had become defunct. The principal business was to arrange dates and details for the competitions lor the Field Shield and Fresh Food and Ice Company V Cup. It was unanimously decided to drop the present challenge system, and to make an open shoot for all dubs to take part in °n a set day. ’flit- Manukau rang--was selected for the competitions, the Shield to be shot for on the third Saturday in February, and the i-Ve.-n Food Cult on the third Saturdnv in March. The Levin Defence Ritb- Club will open it- season on Saturday next. The Suburbs Rifle Club, of Wellington, will visit Levin on Labour Day 'October 27)), and lire a match with the local club.
