HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the Horowhcnua Horticultural anil Industrial Society was held at the reading room, Otaki, on Friday night last, pre sided over by the president (Mr K AVitchell), there being also present' Mrs L. Kilmister, Misses Crellin, M. Baker and Penn, Messrs S. Norgrove A. AV. Broadway, Wilson, L. Kilmister. H. Small, H. Cockrell, F. Penn, au i Rev. Petrie. Tho chief business of the meeting was the appointment of judges for tlu forthcoming show, to be held on Nov ;i 71 li. The following were appointed subject to their consent being ob lained: —Pot plants, cut blooms, fruit and vegetables, Mr A. J. Shailcr, Pal merston North; decorations, Mr Imrie. Palmerston North; needlework Airs Mills. Wellington; school work Miss K. Lawson, AVellington; domes tie, Air J. -J. Whitehead, l'uimerstoi North. Mrs Kilmister was appointed to talc charge of tho sweets stall at the show while the matter of the care of tin refreshment, rooms was left in the ladies, to make arrangements among themselves. The matter of securing more suitabh coverings for show tables was di. cussed, but left in abeyance, owing tithe high cost of suitable material jus at present. Several other matters of detail wer discussed, after which the meeting adjourned until November Sth, when arrangements for the show will in completed.
