THE OTAKI ROBBERY.
A YOUTH ARRESTED. STOLEN ARTICLES RECOVERED. On flu tu flay afternoon a youth nnmed Robert George Neill, aged 18 years, who works at Otaki Railway, was arrested on a charge of having broken into Alcssrs Bills and Aloore’s premises, Otaki, recently, and stolen a number of articles of clothing, etc. It appears that a fellow-boarder of Neill’s had his suspicion aroused by . seeing the stolen tomahawk in liis room, aud informed another, their suspicions bring conveyed to Messrs Bills ; and Aloore and the police. Air Afooro paid a visit nf inspection to Neill’s bedroom, and there discovered some of ' the missing articles. The youth was I then arrested by Constable O 'Donohue. Neill at, first stoutly denied tho charge, but later admitted his guilt. | The ■whole of the missing articles ; were recovered by the police. Neill was brought before Air C. H. AVillianis, J.P., this morning, charge! with having burglariously entered the business premises of Messrs Bills and AJoore at Otaki Railway and stealing therefrom two suits of clothes value £l2. two pairs of boots £3 10s, two shirts £l, two pairs braces 10s. two ties 10s, one pair socks 3s, one tomahawk 6s, one overcoat £6 10s, one rug £2 os, five packets matches 12s, forty packets tobacco £4, nine tins tobacco £1 10s, total £32 16s. A remand till 10 a.m. to-morrow was asked for and granted. It appears that the lad, who entered the premises with gloves on, to hide finger prints, did so without assistance, abstracted the articles mentioned and ; lodged them in the room of the house | where he was boarding.
