OTAKI TOWN BOARD.
BIENNIAL ELECTION. The biennial election in connection with the Otaki Town Board took place on Wednesday and aroused considerable enthusiasm, mainly owing to tho fact that a proposal is on foot to form a borough. Early in the day Natives rolled up in force, while during tho afternoon the, polling-booth was mainly, occupied by supporters of the I’ro- | gressive party. Voting continued steadily all day, some -152 electors voting for the Board election. The polling booth at times—especially towards closing time—proved totally inadequate for voters, and-a few were unable to stay to record their votes. Air I Avrc (returning officer) —with the inadequate provision at his disposal—did his best, but still the result '--is not made known till after 10 p.nt. A poll to determine the day of the half-holiday’ was taken on the same day. The papers for this poll were not ■ counted till yesterday morning. Following is the result of the polls: Elected.
