HORQWHENUA RUGBY UNION.
A meeting of the management committee of, the Horowhenun. Rugby Union was held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. AA r . Procter presiding. Other members present were: Messrs T. Wehipcihana, M. Suhan, and W. AVehipeihana (secretary). Mr A\ T . .AViniata, selector to the Union, wrote resigning his position, his reason being that on the occasion of a bereavement, in his family recently, the Union decided, as a tribute of respect, to postpone the senior match, Wanderers v. Shannon. At a subsequent meeting of the union, how - over, it decided to award the match io Shannon by default, which action, the writer stated, showed a want of consideration and respect, and he therefore resigned. The Chairman stated that he considered the committee had made a mistake. Under the circumstances the committee had the power to postpone j the match in question, and should have done so. On the motion of Alt' Sultan, it was, decided that a deputation from the committee wait on Mr AViniata and ask him to reconsider his decision. Trial Rep. Match. The Chairman stated that 1o give their representatives every chance trgainsfc AYelliugton on September 20, the team should be selected as early r--possible, so as to play a practice match against a B team on Saturday next, jf necessary, alterations could be made in the rep. team after the match. B would provide a good practice game, j nnd help to work up the combination j of the rep. team. j Mr T. AVehipeihana considered a .North v. South match would be a better game, and the final selection made afterwards. He moved accordingly. Mr Suhan moved as an amendment that the selector be asked to select tlus probable team to represent Horowhenua. also a B team, these teams to meet in a match in Levin on Saturday ne.xt. The amendment was seconded by the chairman and carried. - In reply to a question, the chairman stated tlmr the proposed rep. maten with Hawke’s Bay had fallen through. A. and B. Teams.
