‘RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE.’ TO-NIGHT. , The above picture, to be shown tonight for the funds of the Otaki rest resort, should draw a big house. Apart from the picture being a splendid one the object is most worthy. This it what one noted critic wrote of Zano Grey’s ‘‘Eiders of the Purple Sage.” which is even more fascinating in it s visualised form: — “J. have not found Zane Grey’s equal. He is real. His -tories leap from the covers they live, they breathe- they carry the reader away—into the realms they live in: they are inspiring; they are ennobling; they strengthen the weak and make the tired rise to renewed effort. His grasp of the real man anti woman is wonderful. He makes the desert Eve, and bioota, and heal. He is a rest, a helper, a healer. One touches the soul of the Indian, the spirit of tee desert, the power of the jt’Jenee, the life in desolation. His 1 appeal to the highest and best in human nature, and his keen penetration of different types of men and •v women are. in my ertimafion, far beyond any other author I have ever read. •
