PALMERSTON N. HOSPITAL BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above was held at Palmerston North yesterday, Sir James G. Wilson presiding.

It was resolved to make a levy on the contributing local bodies, to enable the Board to furnish the new. portion of the hospital buildings and the resident doctor's house. The Chairman stated the amount required would be about £IIOOO to £2500, and it was agreed to levy £I2OO to help meet this expense.

stance, has had its subsidy reduced by about one-half, which they contended was most unjust.—The Chairman explained the effect of the new subsidies was really to assist the boards that were prodigal in their expenditure, a' the expense of other bodies which were more careful of their fund:,---The Board decided to support ti; .- Waikato Board in its protest against the new system of subsidies. It was reported tliat the electric lighting plant for the hospital buildings bad at last arrived in New Zealand, and would be fitted up as expeditiously as possible.
