Mr Mather, of Te Horo, expects to leave for England in April. Dr. Mandl, who has been on a few weeks’ visit to Auckland, hat retained practice at Fox ton. The engagement 3= announced of Miss May Hargreaves, of Pakerua, and Mr Walter Walker, of Foxton. It is probable that Mr A. C. Holmes, who was a candidate for the Wairarapa seat at the last election, will take op residence in Levin. Mr and Mrs L. J. Kilmister, accompanied by Miss Nancy Kikiimna, left by motor car to-day for Wanganui to be present at the wedding of Miss McHardie. A wedding was solemnised at the Foxton Presbyterian Chcreh on Wednesday, when Mr Robert Reid, son of Mr and Mrs A. Reid, of Foxton, was married to Miss L. Inner.. Mr and Mr, Device, of Upper Hatt. have taken up residence at Otaki, having purchased the residence lately occupied by Mr anti Mrs 11. O. Jones, Waereaga road Otaki. Mr Byron Brown, accompanied f/y his brother, Mr T. Brown, was among she visitors to Otaki. yesterday. It is understood (says the Gisborr.c “Herald”) that the Hon. Sir James Carroll will shortly be offered a seat iu the Legislative Council, as representative of the East Coast, in succession to the late Uo'us. W. Morgan and Captain W. H. Tucker.
