There was mild excitement here on .Friday owing to a truck, containing coal, breaking an axle. 'Before the defect was noticed the train had proceeded about GOO yards, with the result that the permanent way was damaged. Nuts were cut off and the points injured. A staff of men was quickly on the scene and the damage righted. Mr J. MeChesney, who has been in indifferent health for some time, shortly enters the hospital for the purpose of an operation. The Ilautere Rifle Club’s dance, held on Friday night, was a most enjoyable affair. The management had everything up to date —floor, music (Mr Nicholson), and supper being all that, could be desired, while Mr J. ! Guy as M.C. was very attentive: Air J. H. Sinclair has joined the stuff of the Te Iloro Co-op. Supply Stores. Mr Sinclair was previously in busii!ess in Te Horo on his own account. i Several farmers, who contemplate increasing the size of their milking ] sheds, are hampered owing to tho , shortage of cement.
