FOOTBALL.

rOXTON (9) V. WAIKANAE (3). There was a large attendance of tho public io witness the Foxton-AVai-kanae football match at Levitt on Saturday last. Great interest was shown when these two teams first met, when a fairly even game resulted, although Waikanae was defeated by the narrow margin of a try.' Up till Saturday Foxton was leading by one point from AVaikanae for the championship, therefore last Saturday’s match was keenly looked for. AVaikanae kicked off, but Foxton soon had the play in their opponents’ territory and was over the line three minutes afterwards. The subsequent play soon revealed the fact that the Foxton team was trained to concert pitch, and Waikanae was faced with a tough problem. The second half opened up more promising for Waikanae. but in the end the superior form of Foxton prevailed and the game ended Foxton 9, Wtiiknnae 3. The passing of the Foxton backs was splendid, but the same could not bo said of AVaikanae, itt fact the team on the whole, gave a most disappointing display, and probably never played a poorer game. Mr 11. Karauti officiated as referee. An interesting school football match, played at Otaki on Saturday between the boys of the local State and Convent, schools, resulted in a win for tho former by four unconverted tries to two. At, times piny was fast, but lads on both sides speculated too freely. M r Nlcolson was referee. As each •side has now won a game this season, the “conqueror” should be worth witnessing. The following will represent llorowhentia in the rep. football match against Wellington B. at Levin on Wednesday AV. Marshall. !,. Me Donald, N. Winiata. T. Moynilinn, It. Ford, R. T. McDonald. J. Utiku, 11. Jacob, K. George, 11. Sands, R. Moynihan. T. Frame, T. Campion, lv. Dalzell, I). Wilson. Emergencies: T. Winiata, E. Clark, 11. Broughton and Stafford.
