COMMITTEE MEETING. A meeting of the Horowhenua Horticultural and Industrial Society was . held at the Reading-room, Otaki, on I Mondav night, Mr li. Witchell (presi- ' i dent) in the chair, and there being also present: Mesdames Kilmister and Fox, Misses Baker. Crellin and I'enn, .Messrs \ Wilson, Small. Coekrell, Uroudway, ' I'enn, and S. Xorgrovo. Letters were read from Major Addington. Messrs W. EI. Simcox and W. H. Field, M.P., and also from Mrs R. Bevan, kindly offering special prizes for the forthcoming shows. Donors thanked. A lengthy list of special prizes, secured by Mrs Kilmister, was also rend. This lady has been most active ill canvassing for the show. Mrs Kilmister and Messrs H. Small and H. Cockrell were appointed a subcommittee to allot special prizes donated. It was decided, on the suggestion of . the president, to add a new class in the schedule for the next ..how (November 17), viz.. three garden rot.es, one or more varieties. This class win added to induce those who did not specially grow for exhibition to compete. A discussion ensued re the hire of the Society's crockery, ii had been decided af a previous, meeting (hat the crockery was not to be hired to anyone. Since then application had been made for the use of the crockery, and it was thought unfair to make a hard-and-fast rule debarring anyone from hiring it. The meeting rescinded the previous resolution, and fixed charges I to be levied for hue in the future. it was resolved to have the schedules for next spring and autumn shows printed as soon as the special prizes offered had been allotted.
