DK. BAENARDO’S HOMES BENEFIT. The entertainment given at Maimkau on Wednesday night last was, we are pleased to report, a very successful one. and Dr. Barnardo's Homes, for which good object the function was held,' will benefit 'considerably as a result. Captain Arthur Allen, who gave several elocutionary items, was well received. Ho addressed the audience on Ihe importance of helping others, anil thanked the Young Helpers’ League for valuable assistance given in Manuka u. The following contributed items:— Pianoforte solo, Miss Nellie ltoss; song. Miss Irma Be van; song. Mr H. Andrew; pianoforte solo, Miss M. Clifford: songs (2) by .children; recitation, Miss Mina St apples; pianoforte solo, Miss Evans. All of the items were encored. The accompaniments were kindly played by Miss Evans, who deserves very great praise for the efficient manner in which she assisted without any preparation.
