Marton residents have decided to take steps to build a public hospital. The sum of £-1100 has already been subscribed. What should be a record as far as the weight of pigs in the Wairarapa district is concerned was established at Pirongia last week, when a pig weighing 6011 b was killed by Mr I. D. Parsous. The Otaki Bulb Society is most fortunate in having received several handsome trophies for competition at its coming Spring Show, to be held on September Sth. Among the number is an exceedingly handsome and valuable trophy presented by Mr .T. P. Brandon, taking the form of a silver inkstand. This has been allotted as points prize in the. amateur section, and is to be won three times. Mr H. Small has also presented a most beautiful silver cake dish, which goes for the best collection of Now Zealand seedlings, not to exceed twelve varieties. This also has to be won three times.
