PRICE OF MILK.
* —' ARRANGEMENTS FOR YEAR TO COME. THE BASIS ADOPTED. The acting-chairman of the Wellington City Corporation Milk Committee reports that after protracted negotiations with the Board of Trade, farmers, and themselves, the Board of Trade delivered judgment as follows: •'•"Featherston farmers to receive Is 3d at factory for balance of winter term. The Milk Committee to make its own arrangements with thoso farmers ! ' with whom they had contracts. The Board of Trade also settled the price to be paid for the supply of milk from ' September 1. 1920, to end of July, 3921, as follows;—The basis of price ] r to be. the price of butter-fat prevailing at the time, to which is to be added | lid per lb butter-fat for loss of by- , products; Id extra per gallon to cover registration, cooling, and delivery to station twice daily, during the summer months, and Id freight. This prioc, I with butter at 252 s per cwt, will work ■ ! , out at Is 2d per gallon for summer ' months. For the months of April and j May 15 per cent to bo added to the I above, which works out at Is -Id per ! gallon, and for the months of June and i July <SO per cent, which will work out at Is lOd per gallon. j "At a large meeting held on Monday those farmers who are working I vnder an agreement with the Council, • met the Milk Committee to discuss the new state of affairs, and it was mutually agreed that the price to be paid to j those suppliers be Is 6Jd for the balance of this winter term, delivered in j city. The Board of Trade prices to bo I adopted for next season. "Sundry other matters were agreed i upon, and at the conclusion of the | meeting those present representing! three districts were unanimous in say- \ iug they were going back themselves i to prepare, and advise their fellows to prepare, for next winter's supply. j "ft is the intention of the commit- ' tee to convene meetings throughout the whole of the districts supplying Wellington City with milk, for the purpose of getting into close touch with the farmers, and make known as ' widely as possible the prices that will i obtain under the agreement that has been arrived at." '
