MAKES THE CHILDEEN HEALTHY. A very interesting address on the I subject of the care of children's teeth was delivered ul the Teachers' Conference at Palmerston North by Dr. I Elizabeth Gunn, medical inspector to I the liducntion Hoard, the speaker l j deal! with (ho subject along the lines j of tiic lies! methods of instructing j children to look after their teeth. In ! this connection, she spoke df the instiI gntion of toothbrush drill as the most ] effective day of dealing with the ; matter. (Shi; emphasised the difficulty of instituting the drill in the schools, j but at the same time she urged that it was essential that a system of that Kind should he introduced into all our schools. Dr. Gunn urged j I that unhealthy mouths meant un- | I healthy children, as bad teeth were j ! largely responsible for the sprca"d of ■ I disease, and were, in many cases, the '] j cause of ill-health in the children. 1 j For these reasons Dr. Gunn urged the ,1 teachers to put tooth-drill into operaj< tion in their schools. She pointed out 5 that the drill could be carried out in 6 six- minutes, and would result in genep nil benefit lo the health of the chilli dren, and would be also to the great :i advantage of the teachers. j The chairman (Mr P. G. A. j Stuekey) stated that the inspectors I j generally were in hearty accord with j I the system as outlined by Dr. Gunn. j and would urge the teachers to take I it up. ,
